Three common methods for surface treatment of fasteners

The surface treatment of fastener is a process of forming a covering layer on the surface of fastener by some methods. After surface treatment, the fastener can present a more beautiful appearance, and the corrosion resistance of fastener itself will be improved. The surface treatment methods of fasteners are as follows.
1. Electroplating of fasteners
The electroplating of fasteners is to immerse the electroplated part of fasteners into a specific aqueous solution, which contains some deposited metal compounds. After passing through the aqueous solution by electric current, the metal substances in the solution precipitate and attach to the immersed part of fasteners. The electroplating of fasteners usually includes zinc, copper, nickel, chromium, copper nickel alloy and so on.
2. Hot dip galvanizing of fasteners
Hot dip galvanizing of fasteners is to immerse the fasteners made of carbon steel into a bath of molten zinc with a heat of about 510 C, so that the Fe-Zn alloy on the surface of fasteners can be transformed into passivated zinc and the surface treatment effect can be obtained. The hot-dip galvanizing price of the fasteners is higher than that of the electroplating, which is about 1.5 to 2 yuan per kilogram.
3. Mechanical plating of fasteners
Mechanical plating of fasteners means that the surface of fasteners is impacted by the powder of coated metal through specific physical and chemical means, so that the coated metal is formed on the surface of fasteners by cold welding to achieve surface treatment effect. The mechanical plating of fasteners is mainly applied to spare parts such as screws, nuts and gaskets.
The main purpose of surface treatment of fasteners is to enable the fasteners themselves to obtain anti-corrosion ability, so as to increase the reliability and adaptability of the fasteners. Therefore, the quality judgment of surface treatment of fasteners is more important to check whether the anti-corrosion ability of fasteners is effectively increased and whether the increased extent meets the expected requirements.
